Why Does My Head Shake?

Why Does My Head Shake?

There are some things that are just hard to overlook. I can ignore a bruise on the top of my arm. I can forget about a stubbed toe. I can even overlook an annoying headache. One thing however, that is hard to ignore is involuntary head shaking. If you came to this site in order to find an answer to the question,"Why does my head shake?" then there are some reasons as to why your head may be shaking involuntarily. If this condition has been existing for some period of time then it would be in your best interest to speak with a Medical Doctor as soon as possible. Actually, you can type your question in the box to the right of the page and a Medical Doctor will answer your question. For now, let's take a look at some of the more common reasons why your head may be shaking.

1. Anxiety. It is amazing what high levels of anxiety and/or stress can do to the human body. Twitching and shaking in any muscle of the body is often the result of a prolonged period of stress in an individual's life. Personally, when I participate in public speaking that is one of the things that happens to me. Although other people do not notice my head shaking I can feel it and that is all that matters. If stress is the reason for your head shaking then there are things that can be done about it. The first thing you should try to do is remove the stressor from your life and if you cannot do that then learn how to cope with that stress. In some situations a psychiatrist can prescribe certain medications to help with this.

2. Fatigue. If you're not getting enough sleep then the result can often play out like that of anxiety. If this is the reason for your head shaking then all you really have to do is increase your level of sleep in terms of frequency.

3. If you are wondering,"Why does my head shake?" then one of the more serious reasons for this can be related to nerve damage. It is possible that there may be a pinched nerve or other neurological symptom at play.

As previously mentioned, head shaking is not only annoying but can be a symptom of a greater medical condition. If this condition has been existing for some period of time then you really need to get medical advice as soon as possible.
